Meet Your Team

We are a Black Adventist married couple that finally got it together after 23 years of a friendship that started back in our Academy days of high school. Had we both been open (ahem, Adrienne!), we probably would have been "matched" by our mothers (and friends) long ago, and saved ourselves from a lot of heartache. But, instead, we took our own detours....Adrienne escaped the dating scene in her late 20's and ended up in a marriage that was never meant to be, Robert dated a bit into his 30's but found it to be disappointing. Through our individual experiences, we both realized it was important for us to have a partner we could relate to on a spiritual and cultural level among a number of other shared values. Re-emerging into the dating scene in her late 30's, Adrienne realized the dating scene was as ridiculous as her friends warned her who were still in the trenches of it. Adrienne threw up her hands and gave it all to God to let Him do the matchmaking, giving Him the last thread of hope for finding her soul mate that she clung to...God then opened the door of love and behind it was standing Robert, the faithful friend all along.

And so, here we are now with our own little growing family enjoying a peaceful existence together. Like two puzzle pieces that are dynamically different in shape, the combination of our differences and similarities is a natural blend, making it effortless for us to partner across everything in life. Robert having an aerospace engineering and Adrienne an educational psychology background, we bring a unique combination to the table as a matchmaker team. We personally know the struggle of trying to find your partner in these times and we have heard our friends still going through it. The matchmaking idea arose with some of Adrienne's attempts at informally matchmaking single friends and family and pulling Robert into the mix to help give insights, perspective, and even some ideas of potential eligible bachelor friend candidates. After watching some cultural matchmaking shows, we thought, "Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to compile a good pool of Black SDA eligible singles that are dispersed across North America? Why not have a matchmaking service for us?" The Black SDA network is tightknit yet it is scattered. We felt we could help match through our connections in a more personalized approach than what a dating app could offer. After some confirmation from God that it was worth a shot, we thought "Why not try?" We hope that together with God's help that we can assist many others in finding their matching puzzle piece.
